Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy involving hypnosis which is a natural, relaxed, trance-like state. This is a natural state of awareness and one that we go into every day in response to the thoughts that we are having - a type of focused concentration.  In this state you can then make the changes you want; positive changes to your thoughts, feelings or behaviour. It can be used to address issues such as:

  • Motivation
  • Self-esteem
  • Self-worth
  • Confidence
  • Weight management
  • Mental health and well-being
  • Stress management
  • Feeling overwhelmed
  • Imposter syndrome
  • Improving work performance and productivity
  • Self-development
  • Relationship issues
  • Learning to relax

It usually involves a short course of a few sessions to address a particular issue.

Everyone goes in and out of natural hypnotic trances every day, without perhaps knowing it. When a person has been so absorbed in a film or book so much that hours seemed to fly by. When a person experiences driving somewhere and arriving at their destination without them being aware of exactly how they got there. When a person realises that someone was talking to them, but were miles away and cannot recall their words later. All these are examples of common everyday trance which happen every day to all of us. Hypnosis is the same.

I also offer corporate hypnotherapy. People are your most valuable resource, therefore offering on-site hypnotherapy to staff helps with improving mental health and well-being, reducing stress, improves motivation and personal performance and productivity, enhances work relationships and improves staff morale and engagement.

How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy works because it taps into your subconscious mind. Your conscious mind is analytical, logical and critical, whereas your subconscious is much more responsive and open to different suggestions and associations which qualified hypnotherapists are trained to use to help you make the changes you seek.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Some people are easier to hypnotise than others, but everyone can be hypnotised if they want to be.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Hypnosis is a completely natural state to be in and you are in control and able to respond at all times.  You cannot be made to do, say, think or accept anything against your will. The level and depth of the hypnotic state will depend on your willingness to ‘let go’ and trust in the process. It is fully your own experience controlled by you.  As your therapist, I will simply be guiding you.

How many sessions will I need?

I usually see people about 4 times, but this can vary.  Hypnotherapy is an effective therapy but it also depends on your motivation and desire to change. I always aim to help people to make a significant, positive change, right from their first session.

How often will I need to see the hypnotherapist?

This depends on the type of problem and on the progress made. I usually see people once a week.  However, I see some clients once a fortnight or even once a month depending on their circumstances.

What happens after a session?

You can continue with whatever plans you have for the day..

My Practice

I run a welcoming practice. Our sessions are confidential, structured and solution focused, with support between appointments and a calm, non-judgemental approach. I believe in:

1. Supporting people to make the changes they desire.

2. People being able to see results quickly.

3. People being in a better place once we finish working together.

I use a range of tools and techniques to provide a flexible approach tailored to your individual needs.
